We know breastfeeding can come with SO many questions, and that’s completely normal! Whether you're preparing for baby or already feeding, it’s always good to feel informed.
Here are some of the most common questions we get asked at Bump to Boob – hopefully, you’ll find the answers you’re looking for here. If not, feel free to drop us a message – we’re always happy to help!
That’s fantastic! We believe antenatal education is so valuable. While general antenatal classes provide a basic understanding of breastfeeding, our workshop dives deeper. Led by specialists in lactation, we cover everything from colostrum harvesting to expressing milk and how your partner can best support you. It’s breastfeeding-focused from start to finish!
Absolutely not! Whether it's your first or second baby, there’s always something new to learn, especially if you had challenges breastfeeding before. We welcome all parents!
You’re not alone, and we’re here to help. We start our workshops with a light-hearted 'bin game,' where we acknowledge negative thoughts, previous experiences, and opinions – then toss them in the bin! If you need a more in-depth discussion about past experiences, we can arrange a call before the workshop.
We strongly recommend that they do! Our workshops are designed to empower not just mums but birthing partners too. They’ll learn about their role and how they can support you during breastfeeding.
We believe attending the workshop is the best way to set yourself up for breastfeeding success. Like any new skill, it’s good to have some practice and knowledge beforehand, and we cover everything you need to know. However, if you prefer to wait, we’re still here for postnatal support. But why not prepare ahead and give yourself the best start?
Absolutely! Our support doesn’t stop once your little one is here. We offer postnatal 1:1 consultations to help you troubleshoot any issues, whether you’re struggling with latch, milk supply, or just need some reassurance. Plus, our WhatsApp support group means you’ll have ongoing help when you need it most.
Absolutely! You did the best you could with the support you had at the time – now we’re here to give you even more. We’ll watch a full feed, help with positioning and attachment, and ensure your baby is breastfeeding effectively. With our guidance, you’ll feel confident and reassured. Consider our packages for ongoing support, as those early weeks can be tricky!
Yes, we offer a full breastfeeding and tongue function assessment. Sometimes, tongue ties aren’t the root cause of breastfeeding difficulties, and we ensure a comprehensive check before giving advice. We’ll help you figure out if your baby’s tongue function is affecting their feeding.
It’s possible. Tenderness, inflammation, or pain could indicate mastitis, but it’s essential to get breastfeeding support right away to check positioning and attachment. Alongside self-help and medical advice from your GP, we’re here to ensure your breastfeeding technique is as effective as possible.
You’re not alone – breastfeeding can be a bit of a learning curve for both you and your baby. It’s totally normal to have a few challenges along the way. We’re here to offer support with everything from latch issues to feeding positions in our 1:1 consultations and breastfeeding workshops. Trust us, it gets easier with time and practice!
Breastfeeding shouldn’t hurt – but if it does, it’s usually a sign that something’s not quite right with the latch or positioning. The good news? These are things we can easily fix! In our 1:1 consultations or workshops, we’ll work with you to make breastfeeding more comfortable and pain-free.
Yes, you absolutely can! Whether you’ve had a vaginal birth or a C-section, breastfeeding is still very much possible. You might need to find a more comfortable feeding position at first, but we can help with that. Our antenatal and postnatal workshops and consultations cover all of this, so you’ll feel well-prepared.
Straight away, if you’re ready! Most babies are naturally inclined to breastfeed within the first hour of birth – it’s called the "golden hour" for a reason! We’ll help you understand how to make that first latch a good one, whether you’re in one of our antenatal workshops or after baby’s arrived.
Absolutely! There’s so much you can do to get ready for breastfeeding. Our antenatal workshops cover antenatal expressing and how to get breastfeeding off to the best start. We provide all the tools and information you need, so when your baby arrives, you’ll feel more confident and prepared.
It’s a great idea! Preparing ahead of time will give you confidence and help you understand what to expect. Our antenatal workshops are the perfect way to get clued up on all things breastfeeding – from how to latch your baby to what’s normal in the early days. We’ll cover all the essentials so you’re not left guessing when baby arrives!
We’ve been there! That’s why we offer ongoing support through our WhatsApp group – so you can chat with other mums who are awake at silly o’clock too. It's a great add-on to our other services if you need reassurance during those middle-of-the-night feeds.
Yes, you can! We call this combination feeding, and lots of mums find it works well for their family. If you’d like to chat about how to introduce formula alongside breastfeeding, our 1:1 consultations are the perfect place to get personalised advice for your situation.
